Best practice information

The principal aim of The Duke of York's Community Initiative is to foster and increase community spirit throughout the four Yorkshire counties. Measures to achieving this aim are centered on:

  • Giving public and high profile recognition to community schemes of outstanding merit which meet the stiff assessment criteria, and to outstanding individual Community Leaders
  • Exchanging ideas, best practice and experiences through the Award Holders Gatherings (twice a year), and creating valuable networks amongst themselves
  • Providing information and support, in association with public and voluntary sectors to community leaders, social entrepreneurs and new or nascent schemes, to help professional standards
  • Joining other organisations in maximising the coordination of support programmes to assist all community schemes (Award Holders and others).
